Here's a straightforward guide for installing an SKF SPEEDI-SLEEVE:

Start by cleaning the seal counter surface on the shaft, ensuring that any burrs or rough spots are smoothed down.
Measure the diameter of an unworn section of the shaft, taking readings from three different positions and calculating the average. This ensures that the shaft is within the recommended specifications for your sleeve size. If the average diameter falls within this range, the sleeve will fit securely without the need for adhesive.
Identify where the sleeve must be installed to effectively cover the wear track of the seal. Make precise measurements or mark the position directly on the shaft surface.
For shallow wear grooves, filling is not necessary. Optionally, apply a light coat of a non-hardening sealant like Loctite 209 to the inside diameter of the sleeve, ensuring to clean any excess sealant from the outside.
If the shaft exhibits deep scoring, fill these grooves with a powdered metal epoxy before installing the sleeve, allowing it to wipe away any excess as it’s positioned.
