Installing an SKF Speedi-Sleeve is a straightforward process:

1. Preparation: Begin by cleaning the seal counter surface on the shaft. Remove any burrs or rough spots with a file.

2. Measurement: Measure the diameter of a clean, unworn section of the shaft in three different places and calculate the average. This will ensure the shaft falls within the recommended specifications for a proper fit.

3. Positioning: Identify the exact location on the shaft where the sleeve must cover the seal wear track. Ensure that the sleeve is placed over the worn area instead of just being flush with the end of the shaft.

4. Sealant: Shallow wear grooves don’t need filling, although you can optionally apply a thin layer of non-hardening sealant, such as Loctite 209, on the inner diameter of the sleeve. Remove any excess sealant that migrates outside.
