2. Measurement: Measure the diameter of the shaft at an unworn section in three different locations, then calculate the average. Confirm that this average fits within the recommended specifications for the corresponding sleeve size, ensuring a secure press fit without the need for adhesive.

3. Positioning: Identify where the sleeve needs to be applied to effectively cover the wear track of the seal. Plan the exact positioning and ensure the sleeve covers the worn area adequately.

4. Filling Grooves: If the shaft exhibits shallow wear grooves, filling is unnecessary. However, a light application of a non-hardening sealant, like Loctite 209, can be optionally used on the sleeve’s inner diameter. Be cautious to clean any sealant that spills over onto the outside.

9. Final Check: Once installed, review for remaining burrs that might harm the seal before concluding the installation.

10. Lubrication: Lubricate the sleeve with system oil beforehand, following which you can proceed to install the seal.
